A few folks have been asking about kitchen renovation progress so I thought I’d drop in with a little update. Things are moving slower than I’d like, mostly due to decision paralysis. Kitchen stuff just seems so permanent. And, well, expensive. Fixtures, appliances, and cabinets are all spendy items. But I ~just~ decided on one design element and now everything else is sort of falling into place (in my mind anyways… my actual kitchen is still a disaster).
I knew I wanted a large, sleek pull-down faucet that had plenty of clearance for big pots and pans. When I finally saw the perfect one, I noticed it came in a pretty champagne bronze. I thought it’d be a great way to glam up the space a bit. And since I’ve never been into matchy-matchy, I thought why not have some fun and mix metals, cabinet finishes, and materials?
I love how the brass hardware pops on dark cabinets. I never really thought I’d hop on the bi-color cabinet trend, but the brass + dark cabinet combination is a total winner in my book. And doesn’t all that copper and brass really warm up the space? It’s a nice contrast to the cold stainless steel. And isn’t this copper toe kick so fun?

So I put together this little mood board with inspiration for my kitchen. The best part? All of the “trendy” elements can be easily replaced or changed down the line. Lowers can be painted to match uppers and both the faucet and cabinet pulls can be swapped out in less than a day.
I’m finally feeling like I have my kitchen plan decided. Should be smooth sailing from this point forward, right?
